Industry Roles

My main focus in an industry role is Level Designer as it is what I most enjoy doing when creating the games that I make. Although, I do offer experience in UI/UX and Game Design which is mentioned in some of the industry materials made.

Game Studios

  • Double11

  • TT Games Ltd

  • Lucid Games Ltd

  • Hypixel Studios

I currently don't have a secured placement due to a lack of concentration on making industry materials early on in the year. However, I did seek interest in these Game Studios as they did have internships available. Especially, Lucid Games Ltd as I have based my cover letter on a level designer intern at the company. I used guidance from my tutors on how to make a cover letter as well as check out cover letter templates to use and found this website resume.io there was a variety of choices to choose from but I finalised this design.

In terms of how I structured the cover letter, I checked out a website called LiveCareer to help with my initial cover letter for TT Games. However, there weren't any level design internships, this pushed me to look for another company and found Lucid Games Ltd. I looked over their website and LinkedIn to find out if there were any opportunities that I could take but for now, I will just have to keep an eye out.

Relevant Industry Portfolios

I was looking at level design portfolios to find some inspiration and found these portfolios and they will be very helpful when improving the portfolio layout that I have made. Not only that, the games that they have made levels for are shown clearly on the front page with enough information to tell me what the level is like and if I want, I'm able to look more into the process of it. Nathan Chandler-Gibson's Portfolio interests me as it is quite straightforward and easy to navigate which is what I'm aiming for.

CV

When creating this CV, I started with the layout which wasn't the best idea but it allowed me to think of what brand I could make for myself and came up with using the letter "P" with sharp edges referring to my surname. In terms of colour, I stuck with 4 shades of blue. I made sure the text was readable after looking at guidance for CVs. This style was then incorporated into the business card using Canva.
