This week, I had to prepare for my group's dragon's den pitch and as the pitch was mainly focusing on UI design, I had to push myself harder to make the UI by using the flow chart I made to create low and high fidelity wireframes.

Flow Chart Examples

These examples show the if scenarios of UI that show up by a press of a button or an interaction in the game by clearing an outpost.

Low Fidelity Wireframes

These examples show how I have converted the flow chart into a low fidelity wireframe that explains what the UI would look like on an actual phone screen.

High Fidelity Wireframes

When it came around to making high fidelity wireframes, I made a lot of changes that improved the UI for the better such as trying to avoid having too much on-screen as that can confuse the player.

Feedback from Dragon's Den

I received great feedback from Dragon's Den as they give me a few pointers on how to improve the UI such as:

  • Changing the name of the quit button in the options menu to the main menu because they assumed that the quit button would quit the game which on my behalf was my mistake.

  • Removing the Zombie Select Swipe of selecting zombies to instead open up all zombie types at once allows the player to instantly choose which zombie they want to spawn.

  • Make the tutorial button in the level select stand out by making it a bigger size which would entice the player to press onto the tutorial level.
